Una tipología de casos para enseñar el modelo de evolución por selección natural
(2018) González Galli, Leonardo; Meinardi, Elsa Noemí; Pérez, Gastón Mariano
The teaching of all content requires using specific cases or examples as problems that give meaning to the construction of nearby scientific models. There are several criteria for the selection of such cases. In this paper we present the fundamentals of a proposal for the selection of cases for the teaching of the model of evolution by natural selection. This proposal is based on the interaction between these cases and the epistemological conceptions and obstacles of the students. Each category of cases proposed here is defined by the concepts and obstacles whose explanation and revision facilitates. It is also suggested that the awareness of these conceptions and obstacles is a necessary condition for learning as it is understood from the theoretical framework of modeling.

¿Te gusta conducir? Una mirada crítica desde la publicidad de coches y su retórica medioambiental
    (2018) García Martín, Miguel Angel
Sustainable development, as well as other narratives within the framework of environmental conservation, is often used as an advertising resource to improve a brand image. In this paper, a teaching proposal based on a critical analysis of the discourse of a set of television commercials is presented. Specific attention is given to the car industry, due to its huge environmental implications and its impact in mass media and popular culture. This study highlights that persuasive discourses around automobile still persist, which are more emotional than rational, as a way to elude the true debates about today's social and environmental challenges.

Pensar la ciudad global desde sus representaciones escolares : un estudio de caso entre Valencia (España) y Bogotá (Colombia)
(2018) García Monteagudo, Diego; Torres Pérez, Luis Guillermo
The conceptions of the urban space of Secondary Education students of several centres of Valencia and Bogotá approach us to the school representation of the global city. The relationship between social representations and the geography of perception and behaviour reveals that students build ideas about the immediate urban space within the social community to which they belong. Mobility, social relations and attachment to the immediate urban space are dissimilar aspects in both cities, but they lead us to affirm the need to strengthen teaching strategies that include the lived space and the local scale to face the learning of the global city.

(2018) Cambra Badii, Irene; Lorenzo, María Gabriela
The need to articulate disciplinary issues with the Nature of Science, the relationship between Science, Technology and Society, and the interrogation on ethical aspects of teaching and knowledge is becoming more and more evident these days. In this article, we present an action-research consisting on a proposal for training science teachers based on the TV-series Breaking Bad. The results showed different ways of conceiving science, scientific work and its teaching. The rise of ethically controversial situations in secondary school is remarkable. The proposal encouraged debate and reflection on a series of events with broad social impact, and provided the necessary metacognitive processes for the transformation of educational practices.

Medios de Comunicación e Historia Reciente. Un estudio con alumnado chileno de Secundaria
(2018) Sánchez Agustí, María; Vásquez Leyton, Gabriela; Vásquez Lara, Nelson
The aim of this paper is to analyse Chilean secondary-education students? ideas regarding this nation?s transition to democracy, taking special interest in their sources of historical knowledge concerning this process. This study, which applies a mixed-methods approach, makes use of the narratives obtained from 616 students belonging to private, subsidised and municipal schools located in Chile?s main urban areas. Students? perceptions are gathered by using a closed and open-ended questionnaire, and analysed by using a statistical computer software. The results show that, despite the high formative potential of history classes, the Chilean transition to democracy is not given a prominent importance in schools, leaving students no other choice than to resort to extracurricular sources to gain access to this knowledge.
