After the composition of Aida and Messa di Requiem, Verdi considered that his compositive career had concluded. Arrigo Boito, with his talent and psychological skills, will encourage the italian Maestro to go on and to compose his two last operas: Otello and Fasltaff. Besides Boito's brilliant adaptation of both plays as libretist, he will be the one who supports and encourages Verdi in every moment of weakness, allowing him to fulfill his frustrated wish at the end of his career: the success of a comic opera.

Home video: memorie di cinema amatoriale. El caso de Alina Marazzi
    (2013) Margarese, Ivana
In the last thirty years the use and reelaboration of films with a personal and familiar origin, specially in works filmed by women, have increased notably. In some cases this practice represents the desire to tell the own story (trying to rethink a traumatic experience of social, familiar or ethnic nature), meanwhile in other cases, it is the perfect way to self introspection. In this context, Tutto parla di te and Un'ora sola ti vorrey, by Alina Marazzi, are both very good examples of this trend.

    (2013) Vellini, Massimiliano
The Resistance is, without doubt, a relevant moment of the Italian history of the 20th century. But, although it has been told in many literary works and essays, there are a lot of details and stories that are still not very well known by common readers. Above all, an increasing number of works written by journalists and historians have appeared during these last years, offering a vision of the movement quite far from the traditional one. Our scope in this article is to give a proper focus of some aspects not very well known of partisan fight as well as the debate produced in the confrontation of some different perspectives.

    (2013) Nappi, Paolino
Luigi Meneghello's I piccoli maestri, published in Italy in 1964, was a novelty in the context of all the literature that concerns the armed Resistance to nazi-fascism. Autobiographic story with essay elements, the work by the writer from Malo (Vicenza) is full of both ethic and political burden which lies, among others, on two main categories emphasized by the same novelist: antiheroism and anti- rethoric. This last one becomes, as consequence of the translation of life experience into literary form using distancing irony, a very personal symbol, transgressive and deep at the same time, of partisan fight.

The book of Ferrero Leo, Diary of a privileged during Fascism, explains the experience of Ferrero-Lombroso family between 1926 and 1927, forced to reclusion and restraint in their own home, by the regime of Benito Mussolini. The text anticipates by a decade the writings of partisan resistance. This article offers an overview of culture in Italy in the years before the war, from the critic perspective of Leo Ferrero.

    (2013) Bevilacqua, Piero
In a cultural context in which historical matters have become a simple merchandise, Italy is also an interesting example of political use of History with a clear and ambitious strategic purpose with an European dimension: to redefine the legitimacy of those big transformations of contemporary times, specifically those included between French Revolution, the October Revolution and the antifascist resistance movement. In this sense, the work by the historian Renzo de Felice is still object of controversy and the starting point to an intense ideological debate.
