Batallas entre naturalistas(floramontiberica.org, 2023) Jaime Lorén, José María deSince the end of the 19th century, Spanish naturalists have maintained a strong confrontation between the representatives of ?Official Science?, represented by university professors and the directors of the large research centers, and the ?amateurs? of naturalistic studies who generally exercise other professions, but they are very well prepared and show great scientific activity. In this context, the satirical newspaper El Alacrán published in 1905 a fierce anonymous criticism of Blas Lázaro Ibiza, professor of Botany at the University of Madrid and prominent representative of the so-called ?Official Science?. We analyze the possible authorship of the article.
- Nuevos datos sobre la flora del Sistema Central oriental(floramontiberica.org, 2023) Castelo Scremmer, Joaquín; Bernal González, Rubén; Génova Fuster, MarNew locations of 23 plants in the eastern Central System are presented, which, in general, extend their known distribution areas in the territory. In one case it is a great novelty for the entire sector and in another three they represent new contributions to the provincial floras of Guadalajara and Madrid. Some of the mentioned species face severe threats that seriously jeopardize their survival and we want to contribute with this work to their protection and conservation.

(Trifolio-Cynodontion, Plantaginetalia majoris), comunidad descrita inicialmente por sus autores para el subcontinente suramericano como Cynodonto dactylonis-Pennisetetum clandestini. Se discute esta propuesta y se describe su perfil ecológico en el territorio valenciano, proponiendo además un nuevo marco fitosociológico para dicha asociación. Se aporta una tabla fitosociológica y tres fotografías.
- Ophrys brachyotus (Orchidaceae): historique, présence cartographique, taxinomie et littérature(floramontiberica.org, 2023) Soca, RomiegFollowing the discovery of Ophrys brachyotus in Provence, details and a review of knowledge about it are provided. First of all, the circumstances of its initial discovery in Liguria and those of its description are studied. Subsequently, little interest was paid to it by botanists for nearly one hundred and fifty years. Later on, it aroused renewed attention by the end of the last century from authors overlooking the writings of the 19th century and consequently the taxa described, or not, considered as synonyms. Finally, research in the literature reporting its presence, analyses of specimens in European herbaria and field research both in Italy and Istria and in France are reviewed.
- Armeria montiberica, nuevo endemismo del Sistema Ibérico y aclaraciones sobre Armeria trachyphylla(floramontiberica.org, 2023) García Cardo, Oscar; Fabado Alós, Javier; Mateo, GonzaloThe name Armeria trachyphylla is lectotypified, and a new species endemic to the southern Iberian Range, Armeria montiberica, until now undifferentiated from the former and therefore unnamed, is described. A key is provided to separate this new species from the next ones.
- Carlos Pau y las fórmulas para la tinta de escribir(floramontiberica.org, 2023) Jaime Lorén, José María deIn the Archive of the Cathedral of Segorbe there are three handwritten formulas for making writing ink. About this topic, we realized the interest shown by Carlos Pau, the botanist and pharmacist from Segorbe, in this subject when consulting expert colleagues on the composition of the inks. We wonder if in a given moment Pau considered entering in the staining industry.

Principal species are Ammi visnaga, Brassica repanda subsp. gypsicola, Geropogon hybridus, Hormathophylla lapeyrousiana, Koeleria castellana, Moricandia moricandioides, Ononis tridentata, Opopanax chironium, Phelipanche lavandulaceoides, Reseda stricta, Stipa tennacissima, Thymus lacaitae or Th. zygis subsp. sylvestris.

One of them represents a novelty for the Balearic Flora (Lagunaria patersonii), and four of them are new for the flora of Mallorca (Lycium barbarum, Opuntia monacantha, Spiraea cantoniensis, Vicia leucantha). In addition, the presence in Mallorca of Polygonum laphatifolium is confirmed. We report new chorological data on several scarcely reported species, which previously were only known from one or two localities, among them: Agave sisalana, Broussonetia papyrifera, Leucaena leucocephala, Phlomis fruticosa and Malephora lutea. Finally, chorological data for other interesting taxa of the Balearic Flora is offered
