- Els serveis socials municipals en risc de desaparició. L'avantprojecte de Llei de racionalització i sostenibilitat de l'Administració local(2013)This bill endangers the municipal social services system because it deeply modifies the conception thereof (leaning social services towards charity), the distribution of powers (taking competences to the town and city councils) and the public responsibility (encouraging private management and the commercial exploitation thereof). During the last thirty years, the Social Services system had been consolidated throughout Spain, being the proximity to the citizenry its most fundamental value. Such proximity has been achieved thanks to the benefits provided by the town and city councils, which have become the closer public bodies to citizens and their needs with great capacity to understand and recognize the needs of local neighbours.
- Retallades en l'estat del benestar i burnout(2013) Canet Benavent, Encarna; Martí Trotonda, Amparo; Martínez Martínez, LucíaThe current recession and economic crisis of capital that is taking place throughout Europe, as well as the antisocial measures that accompany it, are causing the extinction in the short and medium term of the so-called Welfare State, at a different speed in every EU Member State. We are professionals of the social sphere and we are used to work with usual and recent victims of such crisis. However, this time we are victims too as a consequence of the cutbacks, privatization processes and elimination of benefits and services that are being put into practice. As Social Workers we should consider to take action from the teaching, professional practice and scientific thought fronts in order to guarantee the respect of the basic rights and welfare of the citizenry. How can we practice our profession without being lost out when the whole system is against us?
- Les drogodependències, una visió actualitzada(2013) Agost Felip, SantiagoPublic opinion is not worried about drug dependence and other addictive disorders anymore. The changes in consumption patterns and the lack of visible situations related to drugs consumption have removed this problem from the top of the media’s agenda; however, we are able to establish that this is not a settled problem from the past, but quite the opposite. Despite all the prevention campaigns launched so far, the drugs consumption phenomenon prevails as well as the increase of the number of admissions in detoxification clinics for drug addicts. Therefore, it would be necessary to make a review of the history of drug dependence in order to find the key of the causes thereof nowadays, putting special emphasis on adolescence.
- Impacto de la crisis en las entidades de acción social. Asindown, un ejemplo de superación(2013) Espinosa Peña, Rafael; Poveda Lázaro, TeresaThe current economic situation is forcing public bodies and private enterprises to take special measures in order to keep the services they provide. In this context, the entities (foundations and associations) that look after disabled people and other groups at risk of social exclusion, and that depend to a great extent on public and private grants, are suffering serious financing problems that make the normal development of their activities difficult and, as a consequence, affect the users and families they provide services to. Asindown is part of this reality; therefore it works from all areas in order to keep the highest quality standards in the services it provides.
- Anàlisi sobre el perfil i situació dels cuidadors (formals i familiars) de les persones que pateixen Alzheimer, en la zona de la Vall d'Albaida(2013) Climent López, MartaThe Alzheimer’s disease is nowadays known all around the world, however not everybody is aware of the aftermath that this disease produces in those who suffer it directly and indirectly. There is even less awareness of the importance of providing care to those who give care. Therefore I decided to conduct a little research to know the profile of people with Alzheimer and their caregivers residing in the Vall d’Albaida area (Valencia, Spain) and to analyze the services that are provided to them in order to detect whether they are sufficient or they could be improved. The results of the research are shown below; however I would like to “disclose” that it is necessary to get a greater involvement from the authorities and to raise public awareness of the importance of providing care to family caregivers because, without them, the everyday life of people suffering from would be infeasible.
- El acogimiento de menores con necesidades especiales y su relación con el perfil de las familias acogedoras(2013) Molero Mañes, Rosa Josefa; Gimeno Collado, AdelinaAny form of fostering tries to protect children at risk, without parental care or both, and to enable a comprehensive, community and mending development within any extended family or non-kin foster family. The objective of present study was to find the relationship between the profile of non-kin foster families and the problems of the minor at the beginning of the fostering process. We analyzed whether the family characteristics, including type of family, motivation or employment status, usually help or influence the fosterage of minors with physical issues, psychosocial issues or both. The results indicated that single parent families and solidarity motivated families do foster a greater amount of children with greater issues than two-parent families or solidarity motivated families.
