Abstract
Any form of fostering tries to protect children at risk, without parental care or both, and to enable a comprehensive, community and mending development within any extended family or non-kin foster family. The objective of present study was to find the relationship between the profile of non-kin foster families and the problems of the minor at the beginning of the fostering process. We analyzed whether the family characteristics, including type of family, motivation or employment status, usually help or influence the fosterage of minors with physical issues, psychosocial issues or both. The results indicated that single parent families and solidarity motivated families do foster a greater amount of children with greater issues than two-parent families or solidarity motivated families.
