El pie plano-valgo en la infancia. Tratamiento quirúrgico mediante la prótesis de expansión

The authors review a series of children and adolescent with valgus flatfoot which were operated on our Hospital from 1987 to 1992. The operation consisted of the placement of a subtalar prosthesis according to Gianini's technique wich was employed in 73 cases, on an average 11 year-old children and a follow up of 3 year average. The evaluation of the results was done according to the anatomic correction, radiologic correction and the foot mobility, and were classified in: excellent (the tree parameters were standarizated), good (important improvement of them), and poor (only one parameter was improved). The results was: excellent 34%, good 64%, poor 4%.
