Personajes femeninos en los prólogos de las tragedias de Séneca

The prologues of Seneca’s tragedies are formed by a series of themes which schematically and veledly announce the most significant of his complete works from the point of view both the narrated story and the ‘tragicity’. Thus they fulfill the function of preparing the public to properly understand the work and its message. In this paper we will study the prologues delivered by female characters (Hercules furens (Juno ) Medea, Phaedra, Troades). The theme ‘Profile of the chacaracters’ allows noticing in the prologues the strength of the female characters as oppossed to the weakness of male characters. The entire structure of the prologue (closed, linear, complex) suggests the structure of the whole piece.
