The research carried out for the doctoral thesis aims to elaborate a critical edition of the 1565 book I secreti della signora Isabella Cortese, to investigate about the book's autorship, to verify Isabella Cortese's existence, and to compare our work's results with the published bibliography about this topic. A lexical study on glossaries including measures, equipment, animals, medical vocabulary, plants, ointments and production techniques allows us to make the reading easier for experts on different subjects, such as botany, chemistry, geology, as well as for Italian philology scholars.
