This thesis has its justification in two life processes: the first responds to work experience through which the author has analysed the images of Social Work and has set out some questins as his work hypotheses. The second one responds to an academic concern, and not only as a teaching concern but also as a searching activity, especially as far as the studies of the fields of social intervention and their social representations are concerned, which are without any doubt, the most important part of this research. In the first section, we will show the theoretical basics of our analysis. In that sense, we have been guided by the knowledge of our social reality which we have taken from both dimensions the constructivist and the interaccionist ones, taking into account the point of view of the audience, from the position of recognizing a great richness in the knowledge which is obtained out of the intersubjectivy. In the second section, we will focus in the approach of the reserach process, and we will reach the complimentariness o methodological triangualtion, using the quantitative approach to build the intersubjective and objective images. In the same way, through the qualitative approach we obtain the construction of the dimensions of the audience, studying a TV series called Raquel busca su sitio as the basis for our research. Both components, the images and the audience of Social Work, help us explain our subject matter: the collective identity of social workers. In the third section, we will show our results to build the new collective identity of social workers, making a stop in the perspective of the collective identities (the images), in the influence of the mass media as a socializing instrument of Social Work, and in the importance of the audience of the TV series (the audience) as an influential group. In the intersection of the images and the audience is where the soical representations of Social Work appear, and of the professional workers which carry out this profession. We highly appreciate how the knowledge built out of the intersubjectivity approaches us to the collective identitites, not as fixed images but as dynamic processes which come with us in the construction and deconstruction of reality.
