Nowadays financial culture should be considered as a tool to improve the functioning of the capital market. Its promotion appeal to those who participate in the financial market as investor-depositors-consumers since, logically, the information on which their decisions are based will be decisive in order to act confidently in the proper functioning of the market. It is also in the interest of the operators who act in the market as suppliers of financial products, since in the last few years we have seen how some legal business entered into by them, were invalidated judicially for lack of consent or for essential error based on the disinformation of the counterpart. Finally, public authorities, through financial market regulators, must assume their function of monitoring and promoting the proper functioning of the market, adopting actions that may serve to this purpose. This paper aims to highlight the foundations of the public activity to promote the financial culture, and to outline the main actions undertaken for the moment, as well as suggest improvements in relation to them, in order to achieve greater efficiency.
