At this point, nothing new is discovered if it is stated that DNA is an important ally of criminal investigation. There is plenty of evidence. In this writing (continuation of a previous one, published in 2019) we start from possible errors in the interpretation of genetic results, to go on to illustrate the problems that arise from the high sensitivity of current techniques. We reiterate the need to work with the set of forensic evidence that, together with testimonial and documentary evidence, will bring us closer, in the best of cases, to the judicial truth.

(Universitat de València: Unitat Docent de Medicina Legal, 2024) Frutos Pérez, José María; Frutos Pérez, Alejandra Inés; Llinares Serra, Alberto
The correct performance of Medicine implies a physician?s ability to give an accurate diagnosis of nosological entities, according to a whole set of well-established criteria, which can be easily found in medical literature, and that undergo modifications as one?s knowledge increases. According to this diagnosis, healthcare professionals are to establish what therapeutic plans are needed in order that diseases are treated etiologically or symptomatically. Likewise, the determination of death as a diagnosis makes the absence of signs of life and the presence of signs of death paramount to avoid an incorrect diagnosis of death. Once the diagnosis has been carried out, physicians must abide by what the Medical Death Certificate stipulates, and are also entitled to make the most appropriate and rigorous effort in complying with the aforementioned obligation. This article aims to address some of the common aspects which raise the most concerns when filling out and issuing the current Medical Death Certificate in Spain (2020).
