- Osteoblastoma en calcáneo: caso clínico(2011) Saus Milán, Natalia; Mínguez Rey, María Fe; Gomar Sancho, FranciscoSe presenta el caso clínico de una niña de 14 años que consultó por dolor en pie derecho. Como antecedentes de interés había sido intervenida de una artritis de tobillo en su país de origen. Tras las pruebas complementarias y la sospecha diagnóstica inicial de osteomielitis crónica (absceso de Brodie) se decidió tratamiento quirúrgico con curetaje de la lesión y cementación con antibiótico de la misma. En el acto quirúrgico se recogieron muestras para estudio microbiológico y anatomía patológica siendo el diagnóstico definitivo de osteoblastoma

- Tratamiento de las fracturas del húmero proximal con placas bloqueadas(2011) Arenas Planelles, Antonio; D'Arrigo, A.; Arenas Miquélez, A.; Jiménez Sarmiento, O.86 cases of complex fracture of the proximal humerus are presented. They were treated by open reduction and internal fixation with a locking plate. The results were satisfactory at most of the patients. The authors analyze the factors that have influenced the results of this treatment.

A propósito de un caso(2011) Pérez Vergara, S.; Moreno, Inmaculada; Garcés Hernández, M.; Bas Hermida, Teresa; Bas Hermida, P.We report a patient with back pain and neurological symptoms several months of evolution to the test image was wrongly diagnosed with spinal metastases without prior confirmation with biopsy. The progressive deterioration of neurological and new imaging confirmed the diagnosis of spinal tuberculosis. The patient was treated by curettage, debridement, anterior interbody fusion and internal fixation in addition to medical treatment. There neurological recovery of sensory function, motor and sphincter almost complete month after the intervention. After 20 months of evolution, the patient is asymptomatic without evidence of disease progression
- Necesidad de formación, investigación y práctica clínica en Cirugía Ortopédica(2011) Sánchez Martín, Miguel MaríaLa medicina académica no sólo precisa de buenos científicos, sino también de buenos clínicos que contribuyan de manera trascendente a la medicina clínica, y a trasladar la investigación del laboratorio a la práctica clínica. Los clínicos excepcionales deberían ser reconocidos como tales y tener un papel en la medicina académica. Si no, ésta irá alejándose cada vez más desde el trabajo clínico al lado del paciente a la sala de conferencias.
- Comparación de dos tipos de tratamiento ortopédico en las fracturas del cuello del 5º metacarpiano(2011) Burguet Girona, S.; Baixauli Perelló, Emilio JoséProspective study evaluating 20 patients suffering fifth metacarpal neck fracture. The patients were sequentially assigned to a treatment group with splinting or taping. During the 3-months following-up, we compared clinical parameters such as: pain, metacarpophalangeal mobility, grip strength and DASH test, and radiological parameters as angulations and shortening of metacarpal. After the statistical study, we concluded, that the splinting maintains more the reduction of the fracture and controls more the pain than the taping. The taping allows an early return to normal working activity without differences in functional outcome compared to splinting group.
