- Identificación a partir de cenizas crematorias por métodos odontológicos(2019) Picapedra, Alicia; Sassi, Carlos; Bengochea Montero, Milka; Rodríguez Almada, HugoA case of positive identification is reported by dental methods of very high reliability and specificity, from mortuary ashes contained in a funeral urn, the result of a cremation process and subsequent manual grinding. The number and singularity of the observed concordances allowed arriving at a positive identification. The provided documentation and the participation of the forensic dentist were decisive in that process.
- Registro de muerte súbita en la provincia de Santa Cruz(2019) Echandi, Francisco Javier; Covello, Magdalena RosanaSudden Death is defined as a fatal, unexpected and non-traumatic event that occurs within the first few hours of the onset of symptoms in an apparently healthy person. Cardiovascular disease is the first cause of death due to noncommunicable diseases worldwide. Of non-traumatic sudden deaths, approximately 90% are the result of cardiovascular diseases. In Argentina it is estimated that in 2015, 71,893 people died in the country due to cardiovascular disease. In the United States, sudden death of cardiovascular origin accounts for 300,000 deaths per year and in the European Economic Community, about 400,000 deaths per year. Sudden death is a public health problem worldwide and advances in the knowledge of arrhythmias, ischemic heart disease and heart failure would allow to establish prevention strategies, risk staging and treatment, so as to define the real scope of the problem and its incidence at the regional level is a primary objective for public health. The objective of the present work was to know the cases of sudden death due to cardiovascular pathology in the province of Santa Cruz.

The Tanner staging, which describes the physical changes observed in genitals, chest and pubic hair, throughout puberty in both sexes, has been used as a methodology at the time of the forensic medical assessment of minor cases of age, involved in sexually explicit behavior, either in photos or videos suspected of child pornography. The virtual images, produce serious problems when defining the reality; leading to the commission of legal medical diagnostic errors. At present, there is no scientific evidence to support the forensic medical use of the Tanner staging, when evaluating photographs and / or videos on suspicion of child pornography.
- Ética en el estudiante de medicina actual(2019) de la Cámara Sahuquillo, EdurneHoy en día entre las paredes de las facultades de medicina se respira un aire distinto al que aspiraban a inhalar los griegos.El objetivo de los formados en el grado de Medicina se encuentra aún muy alejado del ideal de ?sanador?, especialista en el arte de la salud. Abogamos por la rentabilidad de la sanidad, por la eficacia de la educación teórica masiva en medicina, más que por elsaber. Todo ello conlleva a un comportamiento, si bien poco ético, de los estudiantes de medicina, que aspiran a graduarse para obtener una vida de prestigio y ostentosidades, mas por el mero placer de sentirse agradecido por un paciente curado y feliz. La percepción de la asignatura de ética médica, comparado con la del resto en una carrera idealizada por muchos es de menor importancia con la que le correspondería. El fin de la medicina en sí es formar personas que ayudan a personas, personas con una formación basada en lamoral y la ética.
- El pelo como matriz toxicológica(2019) Esparza López, JulioThe determination of drugs of abuse in hair is now a routine technique in forensic toxicology laboratories; it has several advantages for the determination against other biological sample. It is an alternative biological sample that is, easily obtained, difficult to adulterate, does not require special storage conditions, and, furthermore, allows showing consumption prior to sampling. It possible gets wrong results with the different hair treatments. Its sensitivity and precision make this matrix have a very important future, although the analytical methods are not yet standardized; therefore, a correct interpretation of results must be performed, and the limitations of this biological sample must be taken into account.
