    Emotions in E-Learning

    This paper presents the results of an educational innovation in Higher Education, whose aim is to design and test a pedagogical model for e-learning. This paper has the main aim to identify and evaluate emotional factors related to e-learning by means of a survey research. The results show emotional well-being scores higher than wrong-being, identifying a range of emotions, which are related to different emotional states in e-learning. In addition, we present features of teachers’ and students’ virtual discourses in forums of discussion starting from types of educational interaction and kind of emotions related to certain settings of learning activity.

    The concept of culture used by future teachers: an ethnographic analysis

    The arrival of immigrant families to Spain from other countries has led a sharp increase in foreign students in Spanish schools, which have in turn become multicultural spaces. . The concept of culture could become the framework on which are based discriminations, prejudices and stereotypes towards groups and individuals. This paper describes the main results of an ethnographic study about the perceived concept of culture of students at a Spanish university. In particular this study was developed from data collected among students who, during academic year 2003/2004, attended to “Education and Socio-cultural Diversity”, subject included in this academic year for the first time in the Degree in Education at the University of Almería. This research not only seeks to give an insight into the concept of culture handle these students, but also to analyze the influence of the subject on the concept of culture used by students as well as the influence of the lecturer on their views and attitudes.

    Analysis of the types of answers given by university students when reading images about movement

    This work analyzes the procedures that students use when they are interpreting the illustrations contained in textbooks of Sciences about the movement of bodies. Many factors influence the interpretation of illustrations, including: the students’ alternative conceptions, the clarity of the data, and the strategies used to approach the content. In order to collect data, tests were designed and taken before and after teaching the topic. The results obtained show that the illustrations offer a superficial treatment of the data and the degree of symbolic representation influences how one approaches the information contained in them

    Opiniones y experiencias en el desempeño de la dirección escolar de las mujeres directoras en Andalucía

    Este trabajo persigue identificar las opiniones y experiencias ante la dirección escolar de las directoras de centros públicos de Educación Infantil y Primaria en Andalucía. Se realizó un estudio tipo encuesta con una muestra de 206 directoras seleccionada mediante un muestreo polietápico, utilizando el cuestionario para la recogida de información. Los resultados muestran que las directoras tienen mediana edad, una dilatada experiencia profesional y, en su mayoría, están relativamente libres de cargas familiares. Accedieron al cargo por razones altruistas y personales, y señalan la falta de apoyo de la Administración como su principal problema. Conciben su función como una labor de equipo eminentemente facilitadora
