    Congenital depressed skull fractures are a rare finding; they represent an entity of low incidence and unknown etiology. They can appear without any traumatic history that justifies them. They can be the source of an alleged obstetric malpractice.

    Las Ciencias Forenses y la innovación tecnológica

    The main objective of this work is to carry out a study of the most novel technological advances that have been implemented in some disciplines of the forensic sciences, mainly those that streamline the processes that each one performs and the benefits they bring to it. The progress of Forensic Medicine is established through the implementation of virtual necropsies, known as virtopsia and the corresponding benefits for this specific area of medicine; the contributions and advances that have been made in forensic genetics mainly in the realization and results of DNA and the multiple benefits that forensic computing has brought with it, through which the disciplines of forensic sciences have been revolutionized. In addition, a brief description is made in which the panorama of the Republic of Guatemala is analyzed in terms of the implementation of these technological advances in the provision of forensic expert services.
