    (2017) Coco, Biagio
Carmelo Giummo, born in Catania in 1953, lives in Augusta where he teaches English Literature at the local Classical High School. His first collection of poems, Graffi (Scratches), dates back to 1990. Dieci donne (Ten Women, 1996) and Nove haiku senza primavera (Nine Haikus without Spring, 2007) follow. Doppia traccia (Double track, 2009) and Alle mie scarpe (To My shoes, 2012) more and more manifestly define the leitmotiv of travel as the pivotal experience of his poetic writing. Giummo has published lyrics on anthologies and magazines and has participated in national and international literary and artistic events. His latest poetry book titled Mentre l?Europa dorme (While Europe Sleeps) was published in 2013. Parallel to writing, Giummo has always had a close collaboration with artists and musicians. In 1989, the British composer Robert Keeley set to music his unpublished poem cycle named Römische Lieder. With Arteinessere, an artistic association of Castel S. Pietro (Bologna), Giummo has been involved as a writer in various exhibitions and the realization of art books. In March 2017, he attended the International Convention  dedicated to  the Imaginative Writing in Bonaviri, held in Debrecen, Hungary, with a speech on the recurring themes and stylistic features which characterize Bonaviri's poetic production, which is still little studied.

How Italian dialect poets translate themselves and how they translate other poets
    (2017) Zuccato, Edoardo
Part one of this essay discusses the way most contemporary Italian dialect poets translate themselves into Italian. Part two of the essay examines examples of poetry translation into dialect made by some of the same contemporary authors. A comparison between the style of the self-translations, which is mainly lyrical, and the variety of styles of the translations from other poets, shows that each choice is an intentional strategy rather than a missed opportunity for a more creative self-translation, as some scholars have argued.

Leopardi oltre il nichilismo e il materialismo Leopardi over materialism and nihilism
    (2017) Di Franco, Marcella
A careful and objective reinterpretation of Giacomo Leopardi?s poetic production, inspired by the most recent critical orientations, reveals an unprecedented vision of the most important Italian poet of the nineteenth century. As an author with a profound and extraordinary sensitivity, he not only did not have a ?materialistic? view of existence but was not even a ?nihilist? in the sense of total resetting of human life to the nihil. On the contrary, as evidenced by a meticulous analysis applied to the thoughts of Zibaldone, he carried on his life through a complex and tormented religiousness.

La traducción de poesía como primer encuentro con el mundo de la traducción : dos sonetos de Federico García Lorca
    (2017) Nardoni, Valerio
According to a wide spread opinion, translating poetry is the most difficult tusk for a translator. Actually, the translation of poems, and above all poems with a fix form such as sonnets, is an important experience to come closer the fascinating world of translation. As a matter of fact, translating sonnets makes the ingredients of the recipe evident to the translator, who ? aware of their instruments ? will cook it in a personal way.

    (2017) Zhou, Ting
Calvino's works arrived in China surprisingly early. The first translated texts date back to the Fifties, when the writer, in his early thirties, was at the beginning of his career. The Chinese version is not a direct translation of the original texts of Calvino, but an indirect translation. This surprisingly early interest is followed by a long period of silence that goes from the second half of the Sixties until the end of the Seventies. The article will try to analyze the first translations of Calvino?s works published in China and to outline the reception of Calvino?s works in modern China in the last several decades. The contextual analysis is aimed to see the relationship between the translations and the historical and ideological context in which they were conceived.

Creatività e traduzione : un punto critico?
    (2017) Petruccioli, Daniele

The present article analyzes the octaves that Garrido de Villena added to Boiardo's poem with the aim to insert in the Spanish version of the work a series of characters belonging to Valencian elites. It is an exercise in manipulation, adaptation, and anachronic contextualization, as much as it is a creative design that runs parallel to a translation effort while being integrated in it and intended to pose a societal model to his contemporary Spanish readers.

Tempo morto e outros tempos : la traduzione del diario personale di Gilberto Freyre dal portoghese brasiliano all?italiano
    (2017) Cherobin, Nicoletta
In his personal diary Tempo morto e outros tempos: trechos de um diário de adolescência e primeira mocidade (1975) the Brazilian writer Gilberto Freyre (1900-1980) comments social, political, cultural, religious and intellectual aspects of his country. This article will analyze the task complexity and the challenges faced during the process of translation like critical and theoretical act involving not simply the linguistics aspects. At the end, the emphasis will be put on the analysis of two macro aspects: syntax and punctuation, lexicon and note, where the translator appears with strategies and comment. The first one, as representative of Freyre?s style and the second one as representative to overcome the difficulties associated with the transposition of themes and words so distant from the Italian context.

El hipérbaton en la traducción al español de los libretos de ópera en italiano
    (2017) Rodríguez Mesa, Francisco José
The opera libretto stands as one of the main textual typologies in which Italian is usually the source language. Nevertheless, translations into Spanish of these kinds of texts often show interpretative or sense distortions. In this study, after a brief introduction devoted to the traductological problems of this genre, the main consequences of mistranslations into Spanish of Italian utterances with hyperbatons in opera libretti are analysed.

El universo melodramático de Tennessee Williams y de Luchino Visconti : Senso, un encuentro fílmico
    (2017) Durán Manso, Valeriano
The melodrama is one of the most cultivated genre by the American playwright Tennessee Williams and the Italian filmmaker Luchino Visconti. The writer had just have a resounding success in Broadway with A Streetcar Named Desire (1947) when is moved to Italy, where the director had taken to scene his first great work, The Glass Menagerie. The tendency to create characters of deep dramatic nature, have an impact on the emotional and social conflict, and exhibit a remarkable aesthetic sense, indicates the existing parallelism between both. Thus it stand out in Senso (1954), a film marked by the dichotomy between duty and pleasure, the power of passion and the crisis of the aristocracy. With these premises, its intends to produce an approach to the melodramatic universe of the only film in which Williams and Visconti worked together
