El apoyo social con pacientes de Leucemia
(2012) López Avilés, Maria del Carmen
Social support for people with serious illnesses and undergoing hospital treatment has to a large extent been given by social organisations, ASLEUVAL being one example of these. Social work with its own particular characteristics has been done, fostering social action in the institutions to enable generating a social protection network for patients and their families, complementary to and vital for action taken from hospitals. It is essential to inform society of the problems and requirements of sick people, to improve healthcare and social assistance, and for the population to become aware of the need for donors of bone marrow and umbilical cords.

This article presents the history and evolution undergone over the last twenty-five years by the System for Minor Protection, and more specifically the solution of fostering minors in families. Two parts can be distinguished in this: the first, referred to as the genesis of the legislative framework 'international and state-operated-, and the materialisation of the type of fostering in extensive and other people's families. The second part involves the development of fostering minors in families in the Valencian Community context.

Una nota sobre crisis y estratificación social
    (2012) Azagra Ros, Joaquín
The current crisis has created a specific group of people at risk of dropping into social exclusion. These are basically young people and immigrants. In both cases the situation is worsened when this coincides with little training and family commitments. Their future is at least uncertain and it is possible to predict that society will take a long time to find a place for them, since neither the present production model, nor any that could replace this, are going to generate employment for these profiles. And neither will sufficient cover will be given either by the present social protection model, slow to react and biased in favour of stable and constant employment curricula. The E.P.A. (active population survey) provides an approach to the problem from the example of the Valencian Community, particular valid through the characteristics seen in its growth prior to the crisis.

The economic crisis is affecting people and societies in a different way depending on their initial situation. As far as Social Services are concerned in the Valencian Community, an analysis needs to be made of this system as it was when the crisis first emerged. Its structure is deficient and involves overlaps, in which schemes have been replaced with individual assistance, payment of subsidies takes too long and in which subjective rights, stemming from the Personal Autonomy and Care for Dependency Law and the Law on Citizens' Guaranteed Income, are poorly applied. The values crisis precedes the economic and financial crisis, which is why any possibilities of facing up to these have to set out from an examination of these personal and social values and from the persuasion that it is possible to get out of this situation.

Social intervention with teenagers at odds with the law in an open environment has been poorly investigated in our country, because of the priority of the judicial area, the complexity of the subject of research, its insignificance compared to the closed environment, etc. After our experience in juvenile justice, and more specifically in intervention with teenagers in conflict with the law in an open environment, we are presenting a form of intervention based on local logic and social support, as a proposal for a valid methodology of intervention for working with teenagers in conflict with the law in an open environment.
