- Nuove frontiere per la metodologia di ricerca sull’esecuzione musicale: il connubio tra arte e scienza(2019) Caruso, GiusyMusic performance analysis is today a shared territory of research for musicians-researchers and scientists. On the one hand, artist-researchers are discussing on the possibilities to apply empirical methods in order to give objective validity to the artistic investigation on music performance. On the other, scientists recognize the need to integrate the artistic perspective in the analysis and interpretation of the quantitative data, related to musical performance (such as the tracking gesture and the audio detections). To define the path that determines the transformation of music performance practice into a research on music performance, this article highlights the problems related to the choice of methods and proposes the interdisciplinary approach (performerassistive method) developed at the IPEM, the Department of Systematic Musicology of the University of Ghent. The aim is to integrate the subjective/phenomenological approach and the objective/empirical approach to facilitate the documentation and the analysis of the performers’ movements and the sound produced on the instruments. The advantages of this interdisciplinary method, which encourages a dialogue between art and science and the implementation of technology, are presented and discussed. The aim is to open new perspectives for the enrichment and the innovation of both the artistic and scientific research on music performance.
- Conceptualización de la terminología ludomusicológica(2019) Parrilla Gallego, GonzaloCertainly, it would be too venturesome to separate sonics from the rest of the cluster that conform a full videogame title. Nonetheless the variety of perspectives that can be considered when approaching sound objects is broadly so far to establish interconnections between disciplines. Following Kristine Jørgensen’s research guides, in this document, it is wanted to reflect about the adequacy of considering film studies terminology applied to ludic-digital sources and its viability, as well as to boost an autonomous musicological discipline, the Ludomusicology, that could be developed from an amalgam of audiovisual-circumscribed elements that might allow to build up a plural and interdisciplinary tale applied to ludic-sound hypothesis.

- Opus musicum angelorium : Quand la musique des « Invisibles » émerge aux confins du sensible - Hommage à Giacinto Scelsi -(2019) Castanet, Pierre-AlbertThe article focuses on the music of the “invisible”, that is to say, the sound art suggested by the community of angels (between God and Satan). Based on the thought of Boece or Hanslick, Pythagoras or Eliade ... the study touches on both the aesthetics and the musicology of “modern” and “contemporary” music scores (Debussy, Jolivet, Scelsi, Messiaen, Stockhausen, Schnebel, Denisov, Ohana, Henry, Crumb, Grisey, Pintscher, Francesconi, Hurel ...). Conceived as a tribute to Giacinto Scelsi (poet and composer who has often mentioned angels in his poems as well as in his titles of musical works), “Opus musicum angelorium” tries to analyze the limits of the sensitive (at the limit of the inaudible)...

- Holistic Architecture for Music Education: A research design for carrying out empiric and interdisciplinary studies in didactics of music(2019) Angel-Alvarado, Rolando; Wilhelmi, Miguel R.; Belletich, OlgaAesthetic issues of music are relevant in music education research, but other elements linked to social sciences also play a central role, such as relationships among classmates, dyadic interactions between students and teachers, impact of cultural capital in classroom situations, and so on. In this regard, research design for music education should propose an iterative interaction between theoretical foundations and complex real-world situations in order to educators and researchers may be able to undertake educational activities that are grounded theoretically, contrasted empirically as well as they are reproducible. In this study, we will construct an interdisciplinary and holistic research design for music education. The constant comparative method, which is linked to grounded theory, is applied in order to construct a structural design. Results have defined an interdisciplinary and holistic research design because mixed research methods are used for analysing music education phenomena from complex thinking, valuing the relevance of sociocultural milieu. In conclusion, the proposed structural design is appropriate for music education because, in theoretical terms, it involves a hermeneutic circle between epistemological bases and broad-based, complex and critical real-world situations in the field of music education.
