    Determination of the factors that condition the quality of an university: practical application of a factorial analysis

    This article supposes a practical application of the technique of the factorial analysis. Their particularity resides in the nature of the variables that we try to study (conditions of the university quality), of the instrument designed for the study (questionnaire of evaluation) and of the basic objective of this work that is not another that to pick up the opinion of a representative sample of students on the dimensions and elements that they have to conform a model of indicators of university quality. After a first exhibition of ideas in the one that different concomitant elements of the university quality are commented, this technique, applied on a total of 110 ordinal scales, she has given the appearance of thirteen intimately bound factors as a result with the university evaluation and basic approaches to define their quality.

    Indicators for a Comprehensive Evaluation of Academic Productivity in Higher Education

    This article reports the results of an evaluation of academic productivity of three academic departments of the University of Guadalajara, Mexico, through an interrelated system of evaluative indicators it is possible to construct an effective method for identifying the levels and degree of equilibrium in the academic productivity of  an  institution of higher education. The method used to evaluate the dimensions of departmental academic productivity permitted interpretation and analysis of the data in order to make comprehensive value judgments and recommendations. Thus, achievements in the areas of research, extension, and teaching were evaluated for the departments observed. The criteria for analyzing the indicator were: effectiveness, efficacy, efficiency, adequacy, and continuing education.

    Education and Knowledge: The core of productive transformation with equity?. The case of Chile

    The objective of this article is to give a review of the results of educational politics in Chile, of which the core concept has been “productive transformation with equity”. It has established a view on the aspects of productivity and distribution of income in the different socioeconomic stratums, and it shows the levels of education achieved in comparison to the incomes earned. Among the principle conclusions that were found, it is certain that even though productivity has increased, equity has not, which shows problems with educational development in Chile.
