Muerte por embolia grasa no traumática : reporte de un caso
(Universitat de València: Unitat Docent de Medicina Legal, 2024) Berón, Valeria; Rodríguez Almada, Hugo
The pulmonary fat embolism is a common complication in fractures which rarely has non-traumatic etiology. This case reports an adult male who suffers from a chronic anemia and multiple comorbidities, and died suddenly after respiratory distress. The autopsy revealed a fat and hematopoietic cell embolism in the pulmonary vasculature and right heart chambers. The harmonious interpretation of the clinical condition, the autopsy findings and the histopathological study allowed the diagnosis of non-traumatic fat embolism syndrome to be reached. It is important for clinical and forensic doctors to take into account the possibility of this cause of death, even in the absence of a traumatic clinical history, especially in people who suffer chronic anemia.

Oblitos quirúrgicos : ¿Iatrogenia, error involuntario o negligencia? su análisis médico- forense, jurídico y deontológico
(Universitat de València: Unitat Docent de Medicina Legal, 2024) Araujo Cuauro, Juan Carlos
The oblite or foreign body retention after a surgical procedure is a real, current, preventable problem that affects the safety of the surgical patient. Its incidence is unknown for certain, since there is under-recording of its occurrence due to the potential risk of deontological, medical-legal and forensic conflicts. The objective of this article was to analyze whether its occurrence is due to an involuntary error or negligence in the practice of surgery and what its deontological and even legal significance is. The appearance of a surgical oblite is a legal medical responsibility that only appears in the head of the main surgeon as head of the surgical room; For this reason, it is important to evaluate the medical-legal responsibility of all participants in the surgical act, establish who is responsible and who must assume the consequences of the damage it generates. It is evident that in the presence of a surgical oblith there is a deontological-legal person responsible who has the obligation to repair the damage caused. It is concluded, which is evident, that the main error is not that of the surgeon; However, the responsibility falls on him to be the leader within the surgical room. It is not true that the responsibility lies solely with the doctor, which is why it cannot be individual, but on the contrary, attribute to each of the members the responsibility that corresponds to each one.

The contribution sought is to provide the institutions and organizations competent in the subject of road accidents and their forensic investigation, a tool to identify the sections or sectors that are priority, to motivate and urge the implementation of actions to promote of road safety.
Unlike former legal guidelines (2009), today?s Spanish Medical Death Certificate (2020) stipulates that group records which corpses belong to must be kept at all times, according to corpse classification based upon the causes of death (Consensus Guidelines for Mortuary Health, July 2018). This article aims to discuss the concerns that clinicians may have when certifying death in cases of influenza virus, as well as an attempt at determining its possible classification as group I and group III of the aforementioned disease.
