- Osteomielitis tuberculosa tibial aislada: a propósito de un caso(1992) Cardona Vernet, J.M.; Palliso Folch, F.; García Maesso, R.; Gómez Ribelles, A.; Fernández Martínez, J.J.An infrequent cas e of tuberculous isolated tibial osteomyelitis, without any evidenc e of tuberculous focus in eithe r bone or extrabone locations is presented. With this motive the bibliography is reviewed and the diagnostic value of the biopsy is enhance d as well as the importanc e of associating the curettage to he specific treatment and the good prediction in the long run of these lesions.
- Angioleiomioma de nervio periférico(1992) Amillo Garayoa, Santiago; Leyes Vence, Manuel; Martínez Peric, R.; San Julián Aranguren, MikelA cas e of angioleiomyoma on the medial aspec t of the left wrist in the dorsal sensitive branch of the ulnar nerve, and a review of the literatur e are presented. This tumor should be considered in the differential diagnosis of patients who have a painful subcutaneous nodul e at the extremities. Ther e is no report in the literatur e on this type of tumor affecting a peripheral nerve.
- Latirismo(1992) Fernández Fernández, C.I.; Fernández Gabarda, RafaelSe hac e una revisión bibliográfica de est e cuadro neurotóxico en lo que hac e referencia a datos epidemiológicos, enfatizando los especiale s condicionamientos socioeconómicos y como consecuencia, su condicionada presentación "geográfica". Se estudian los posible s mecanismo s patogénicos, no definitivament e aclarados, y se comentan sus relacione s con otros cuadros neurotóxicos provocados por e l consumo de legumbres. Se dedica un apartado a la utilización de los latirógenos en la preparación de modelos experimentale s diversos en investigación básica. Se aborda el tratamiento considerando las medidas profilácticas a tomar aún conociendo las dificultades de su puesta en práctica y se señalan las características de las secuelas neurológica y ortopé- dica, así como las posibilidades operatorias de minimizarlas.

R.A case of simultaneous bilateral anterior and posterior dislocation of the hip joints associated with a fracture of the right acetabulum and right femoral shaft, and a subluxation of the cervical spine, is reported.
- Importancia del hematoma en las fracturas de los hueso s largos: estudio experimental en ratas(1992) Barros, T. E. P. de; Pires Camargo, O.; Guarniero, R.; Mazzariol, A. Q.; Reis, José T.A.B.; Thomazin, W. T.; Rodrigues, C .J.The authors studied the importance of the haematoma in the consolidation of fractures of long bones. It was performed an experiment in 50 Wistar rats that had their tibiae fractures and stabilized with intramedullary wires. The haetoma wa s aspired from the fracture site in the right limb whereas the left limbed served as control. The animals wer e sacrified in different periods of time , and the calli formed in the sample s wer e analysed in reltion to the radiological and microscopical aspects. It w a s observed a predominancy of fibrous tissue in the control limb and in the sample s wher e the haematoma was aspirated it was obtained a predominancy of cartilaginous and osseous tissue.
- La consolidación de las fracturas diafisarias del radio en el adulto : resultados del tratamiento con osteosíntesis por autocompresión(1992) Guarniero, R.; Pessoa Barros Filho, T.E.; Pires Camargo, O.; Cardenas Arenas, G.E.The author s carried out an analysis of healing in shaft fractures of radius treated by compression bone plating (Bagby System). 30 patients treated in the Department of Orthopaedi c Surgery of "Hospital das Clínicas" (F.M.U.S.P.) betwee n 1975 and 1985 wer e includedin this study. 24 (80%) of patients wer e men and 6 (20%) women; average of age was 30.1 year s (rangel8-47). Bagby plate s with 4 and 6 screws (18 and 6 case s respectively) wer e used by the authors. Good results wer e obtained in 24 patients, fair in 4 cases of delayed union wer e observed. The average of healing was 9 week s (6-16). One patient showed dehiscenc e of the wound, and othe r allergic reaction to metal. Two patients had paresia of radial nerve resolved spontaneously. In three cases, showed local osteoporosis after the plat e wa s removed. No case s of refractur e wer e observed in this series.
- Componentes acetabulares no cementados: resultados preliminares con los modelos PCA y Poro-palcar(1992) Crespo Romero, Ricardo; López Alonso, A.Se comparan los resultados clínicos y radiológicos a corto plazo referente s al component e acetabula r de 62 artroplastia s totale s de cader a no cementadas. Treinta y tres implante s correspondían al modelo Poro-palcar y 29 al modelo PCA. La edad media en el momento de la intervención fue de 62 años (ds=9.6). El tiempo medio de seguimient o postoperatorio fue de un año y siet e mese s (máximo 3 años y mínimo un año). Para la valoración clínica se utiliza el test de Harris. La puntuación final total alcanza 88.7 puntos (ds=6.9) para el modelo PCA y 83.5 puntos (ds=13.2) para el poropalear. Los resultados clínicos fueron excelente s (80-100 puntos) en el 93% de los implante s PCA y en el 67% poro-palear (p<0.01), con una remisión completa del dolor en más del 90% de los casos para ambos modelos. La mejoría de la capacidad funcional fue significativament e mayo r en los enfermo s intervenido s con e l model o PCA. En cuanto a los resultados radiológicos, no hubo signos significativos de migración acetabular en ninguno de los modelos. Respecto a la aparición de radiolucencias, no se detectaron en el 72% de las copas PCA y en 60% de las copas poro-palear, presentando el resto radiolucencias de hasta 2 mm, lo cual indica una mejor osteointegración de las copas PCA respecto de las poro-palear.
