The use of additive technology by means of 3D printing for the manufacture of any type of product represents an enormous technical potential that is being developed in a wide range of different sectors. The benefits afforded by threedimensional printing for the progress of society are undeniable. The threedimensional printing of human organs, foodstuffs and even housing units is currently possible. Nevertheless, the improper use of this emerging technology, apart from the ethical and moral implications it may entail, also involves certain legal risks which need to be studied from different perspectives. The aim of this paper is to examine those risks, particularly in the field of industrial or intellectual property, seriously threatened by the introduction of this new technology into the production process.
