According to the WHO Global Report on Drowning, drowning deaths are a serious and neglected public health threat that causes 372,000 deaths worldwide each year, 90% of which occur in low and middle-income countries. In fact, drowning rates in these countries are more than three times those in high-income countries, where the number of drowning deaths has been reduced through the use of strategies that have been successfully adapted to low and middle-income settings. The main objective of this work is to analyze the cases of corpses retrieved from the water and of people rescued alive from half-drowning with subsequent death in the province of Alicante in the three-year period 2022-2024 from the epidemiological point of view in order to compare our results with other similar investigations, including specific anatomical findings and, ambitiously, try to detect, from forensic evidence, data that allow us to identify the main risk factors and make recommendations in order to implement preventive measures that allow reducing the number of cases.; Según el informe mundial sobre ahogamientos de la OMS, las muertes por sumersión constituyen una amenaza de salud pública grave y desatendida que cada año provoca 372000 defunciones en todo el mundo, el 90% de estas en países de ingresos bajos y medianos.
