Fomento de la interacción social (conducta prosocial): correlatos neurobiológicos en el Transtorno de Espectro Autista
Recently a huge increment in the prevalence of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) has been observed. The core diagnostic features are related to communication and social interaction impairment. The aim of the present work was to review the neurobiological factors involved in promoting social behavior (prosocial behavior) exhibited by persons with ASD in the last decade. Oxytocin, vasopressin, serotonin, androgens and estrogens are the most important hormones and neurotransmitters involved. With regard to neuroanatomy and neural systems, the anterior insula, amygdala, fronto-parietal area, fusiform gyrus and neurons mirror system are the most remarkable.
