This paper analyses a total of ten (10) court decisions and 24 resolutions from the General Directorate of Legal Security and Public Trust (Dirección General de Seguridad Jurídica y Fe Pública), formerly (before 2020) called General Directorate of Registries and Notaries (Dirección General de los Registros y del Notariado). This entity is an administrative body of the Ministry of Justice that has various competences regarding the Public Trust, including the resolution of queries and appeals regarding the topic. Some of the more interesting subjects analysed by the decisions include: 1) the requirement of a certificate from a foreign registration of dispositions upon death (certificados de registros de actos de última voluntad extranjeros); 2) some common problems regarding cases involving English law, such as the practice of 'partial wills' (also called wills 'simpliciter') or the role of 'probate' and 'personal representatives' in the succession of British citizens in Spain; 3) the admission of an 'anticipated professio iuris' (i.e., a choice of the applicable law made before the date of applicability of the Regulation); and 4) coordination problems between regional civil law and the Regulation (EU) No 650/2012.
