El artículo explica qué es una ronda, cuál es su procedencia y sus antecedentes, así como en qué contexto social y fiestas aparece, en la ciudad de Castellón de la Plana, en la Comunidad Valenciana (España). Al mismo tiempo, trata de aclarar por qué motivo su música es tan característica y qué tipo de agrupaciones e instrumentos forman parte de estas rondas. En esta investigación hemos recogido testimonios que cuentan cómo las rondas siguen vivas y de qué forma transcurren bajo cierta planificación, que en algunos casos se convierte en improvisación y humor. Por consiguiente, abordamos esta investigación desde el punto de vista musical, sociológico e histórico, al intervenir saludablemente en la memoria colectiva.- The article explains the tradition of the ronda, its origin, its background, as well as in which social context and festivities it appears in the city of Castellón de la Plana, in the Valencian Community (Spain). At the same time, we try to clarify the reason why its music is so characteristic and what type of groupings and instruments are part of these rondas. In this research we have collected testimonies that recount how the rondas are still alive and in what way they take place under a certain planning, which in some cases turns into improvisation and humour. Consequently, we approach this research from the musical, sociological, and historical point of view, by intervening in a healthy way in the collective memory.
