- Publicaciones e investigación con enfoque familiar en la Revista Española de Drogodependencias (2002-2012)(2014) González López, Alejandro DavidThe objective of this study was to identify the contents on the family found in articles published from 2002 to 2012 in the Revista Española de Drogodependencias. To select the texts that were analysed, the search engine of articles available on the journal's Web site was used to locate the term family in titles and keywords. The descriptors of the original articles, review and short communications published in the period cited were also read. The technique applied to the articles selected was content analysis. The results indicated the existence of few articles on the subject of the family and in most of these the emphasis is on prevention, with a predominance of adolescent participants and favouring the use of standardized tests and statistical analyses.
- Hábitos de consumo de drogas y percepción sobre los efectos en salud y rendimiento académico en estudiantes de Psicología en la Universidad de Huelva(2014) Merchán Clavellino, Ana; Ribeiro do Couto, Bruno Rodolfo; Alameda Bailén, José RamónThe aim of this study is to describe the prevalence and relationships between different drugs among college students, as well as getting to know the perception of students about the effects of drugs on academic performance and health. The sample consists of 153 psychology students from the University of Huelva. The consumption and perception data are collected by an anonymous and voluntary questionnaire. Our results show that the most widely-consumed substances with earliest onset are alcohol, tobacco and cannabis, thus confi rming the trends found in young people. Similarly, polyconsumption is confi rmed with a percentage of 60.78% of the sample. Tobacco consumption starts earlier than alcohol or cannabis, and the sooner people start to consume tobacco, the sooner the consumption of other substances starts. Depending on the substances combined, there are differences in the age of onset of alcohol and the quantity of tobacco cigarettes. Thus, if those who drink also smoke, the age of onset of alcohol use is earlier. Those who smoke most cigarettes are the ones who combine tobacco with any illegal drug other than cannabis. With regard to perception of the effect of drug use, students who use alcohol, cannabis and tobacco consider that drugs affect academic performance less than non-users or consumers of legal drugs.
- Perfiles de jugadores patológicos en la adolescencia.(2014) Sarabia Gonzalvo, Izaskun; Estévez Gutiérrez, Ana; Herrero Fernández, DavidGambling is an impulse control disorder that causes many problems for people who suffer from this. In the case of young people and teenagers this circumstance is especially serious because there is a large number of pathological gamblers in this age group, and since the onset of pathological gambling lies in adolescence. There are, however, few studies on this. The objective of this research was therefore to analyse the profi le of pathological gamblers among young people and teenagers from the Spanish Federation of Rehabilitated Gamblers (FEJAR). To do this we used a qualitative methodology through discussion groups. The study involved 31 young people and teenagers from 16 to 26 years of age and adolescents at risk of problem gambling. The results showed the age of starting to gamble, the game type, the use of money as well as the consequences of gambling in their lives. This study is useful to gain in- depth knowledge on pathological gambling in adolescence.
- Adicción a cannabis: bases neurobiológicas y consecuencias médicas(2014) Araos Gómez, Pedro; Calado Romero, Montserrat; Vegara Moragues, Esperanza; Pedraz, María; Pavón Morón, Francisco JavierAddiction to products derived from the plant cannabis sativa has become a relevant problem in western societies. Its prevalence in both teenagers and young adults has grown in the last decade. The problem is aggravated by the availability of plant derivatives with a high THC content. Today, the number of cannabis users requesting medical treatment is growing, as well as the incidence and variety of the adverse effects associated with its chronic consumption. On the other hand, the last 20 years' research have revealed the hidden pharmacology of the active principles of cannabis. Cannabinoids, the psychoactive chemicals of the plant, exert their pharmacological actions through their interaction with an endogenous signaling system, the endocannabinoid system. This system is involved in brain development, plasticity and repair, and its chronic stimulation can induce not only dependence/addiction, but also result in adverse clinical effects. The negative side of cannabis use has greatest impact in the adolescent period. The main adverse effects of chronic cannabis use include the increase in the incidence of mental disorders (mainly psychosis), as well as alterations in cognitive processes including memory, attention, decision-making, risk behaviors as well as impulsivity. Some of these effects are permanent and information and research on their nature is greatly needed in order to achieve a correct public health approach to cannabis use.
- Evaluación de la percepción de utilidad de un programa social dirigido a consumidores de drogas en Mérida, Yucatán, México.(2014) Serhant Cobos, Stephany Abraham; Echeverría Echeverría, RebelínDrug abuse is currently a complex phenomenon with negative consequences for the individual, family, and society in Mexico. Merida, Yucatan, is no exception, so the local government and several organisations are addressing this problem through different social programmes; these programmes lack evaluations, however. The alternative that considers evaluating social programmes is gaining ground over more traditionalist methodologies and policies (Mercado-Martínez, Bosi y Hernández-Ibarra, 2010), as it helps to make appropriate decisions to develop relevant actions. This paper focuses on the evaluation of the perceived utility of a social programme revolving around the medical-psychiatric, psychological and social therapeutic management of individuals who use drugs, conducted by Centros de Integración Juvenil Unincorporated Association based on the participants' experience, in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico. The methodology used in the study was phenomenological - qualitative, with participant observation, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis as techniques. The participants were six assistants, two ex-assistants, the organisation's director, the coordinators, and the programme manager. The results show the socio-familiar and labour developments of the attendees, addressing aspects involving the quality of their relationships, the role of communication, the use of free time, and the insertion of new socio-educational activities. Additionally, several other programme aspects are analysed, such as meeting objectives and the role of the individuals in charge, which helped to identify successes and failures in the programme in order to favour decision-making processes to generate improvement.
