- De la opinión a la evidencia en ortopedia(2011) Sánchez Martín, Miguel MaríaThe based-evidence medicine is a necessity at present time, not only for science but in every way to choose the best traitement for our patients. To do a controlled aleatorized assay we need to know the principles of epidemiology and biostatistics. Besides, it needs to use complete information and images through the Internet. The surgeon must know with precision the data offered by journals'' papers.
- Resultados del tratamiento quirúrgico del pie plano valgo en la infancia(2011) Faour Martín, O.; Navarro Núñez, EnriqueThe authors review a serie of children with valgus flat feet operated in the Service of Orthophaedic Surgery and Traumatology of the Clinic Universitary Hospital of Valladolid, from 2004 to 2008, and treated surgically by the placement of the Maxwell-Brancheau subastragalin implant. We have valuated 55 feet operated, with a median age of the patients of ten and a half years, and with a follow-up of 2 years average. We performed an evaluation of the principal radiologic parameters of the valgus flatfoot, like Costa-Bartani angle, escafoid astragalin angle and the Shade´s line or Meari axis, concluding a correction of these parameters that was stadistically significant, and that remains to two years of follow-up.
- Estudio descriptivo retrospectivo de la fractura de cadera en un área de salud de la Comunidad Valenciana(2011) Perea Tortosa, D.; Aguirre Pastor, A.; Rebate Nebot, E.; Hernández Ros, P.; Segura Trepicho, M.; López Prats, F.A descriptive study of osteoporotic hip fracture in the Health area 20 of the Valencian Community in 2007. We included a consecutive series of 239 patients undergoing proximal femoral fracture. We created a database collecting clinical information such as age, sex, type of fracture and handedness, personal history, referred to the accident data, entry and stay, and treatment.
- Metástasis musculares del adenocarcinoma renal(2011) Carpintero, R.; Serrano, J.A.; Serrano, P.; Carpintero Benítez, PedroThe renal cell carcinoma can produce metastatic, the most common are in lung, liver, bones and encephalon. The isolated metastatic in muscle are unusual, there are only twenty cases published, most of them isolated cases. We present two cases of metastatic of renal cell carcinoma isolated in skeletal muscle. It is very important the differential diagnosis of this kind of lesions with soft tissue sarcomas because treatment and prognosis are very different.
- Fallo recurrente tipo IV de un inserto acetabular retentivo sin disociación del anillo de bloqueo(2011) Lizaur Utrilla, Alejandro; Bustamante Suárez, D.We report recurrent dislocation with two failed Duofit IPR constrained liners in the same hip. Both times, the cementless cup and stem were well fixed and well positioned, and the constrained liner was found to be well fixed within the cup and undamaged. The locking ring was well positioned with complete seating into the liner, but had a small "scratch" and a plastic deformation of superior and inferior poles, respectively. This finding suggested that impingement between the neck and the rim of the ring had occurred, especially during flexion, so-called failure type IV. It required revision to a large-diameter metal-on-metal modular articulation. The well-fixed and wellpositioned femoral stem was left in place. We are not aware of any other published reports concerning failure of this implant.
