- La suprema giurisdizione nella Sardegna moderna. Travagli della Real Audiencia (1564-1651)(2019) Nieddu, AnnamariThe institution of the Real Audiencia in the kingdom of Sardinia since the 1560s is part of a wider process which saw the rise and development of royal supreme courts of justice in several European countries of the early modern period. In fact, major State formation processes all around Europe required that monarchs increased their control on local authorities and that new increasingly centralised systems of judicial review gained precedence over all particular jurisdictions, feudal as well as municipal. This brought about a dramatic transformation in the field of criminal law enforcement and administration of justice.
- La fortificación del Reino de Valencia en la década de1640 a la luz de la revolución militar(2019) Hernández Ruano, JavierThis article proposes a study of the traditions in defensive architecture that concurred in the projects designed by Spanish military engineers for the fortification of the Valencian frontier in 1648 and 1649, in the context of the War of Catalonia (1640-1652). For this it is essential to follow the route of the Valencian adaptations to the military revolution in the matter of fortifications throughout the sixteenth century and compare them with those brought to Valencia in 1641 by the Marquis of Leganes and his engineers from the school of Milan.
- La vida cotidiana de los vecinos de Manila a través de sus testamentos e inventarios de bienes(2019) García Abásolo, AntonioWith the general objective indicated in its title, this work tries to highlight relevant aspects in the continuity of the Spanish domain in the Philippines, dependent on the maintenance of the Spanish capital. The inevitable selection of topics has lead the preferences of this work towards the residents collaboration to defend the city, the conversion of many of them into traders of exotic products and singular slaves owners, and their collaboration to an incredible miscegenation due to the ethnic variety. On the other hand, to follow the footsteps of the first generation of residents in Manila, at the end of the 16th century and during the 17th century, this work gives us some information about the flexibility of the Hispanic Monarchy to adapt to the social surroundings in Asia.

- Los beneficios del mar: negocios e inversiones económicas de la oficialidad naval en el siglo XVIII(2019) Ortega del Cerro, PabloThroughout the eighteenth century, the Spanish navy was extensively reformed and enhanced as a consequence of the new model of Monarchy that the Bourbons introduced. Among the measures adopted, it is remarkable the erection of the naval officers corps according to the needs and obligations that maritime war had in this century. This group becomes the paradigm of the new professionalization and new training approach, and its members had great relevance due to its great mobility around the empire and the power of the naval institution. This means that a part of the naval officers were placed in privileged positions and at the intersection of diverse political, social and economic networks. This work aims to research this fact through the business and economic investments that these individuals undertook throughout the eighteenth century, especially their participation in the Cadiz trade. It can be concluded that the naval officers of the eighteenth century constituted a quite active economic group that looked for complementary forms of benefit beyond their salary as servants of the King and became essential nodes of the Atlantic economic framework of Spain.
- Santo Dominguito de Val: La "tradición" como arma arrojadiza a disposición de los poderes establecidos(2019) Gómez Zorraquino, José IgnacioThis study focuses, from a short story of the blood libel of Saint Dominguito de Val, on answering the questions of when and why the ?tradition? was made about this saint, and the specific moments of his Revitalization until the end of the 17th century. Although the short story of the death of this infant has been occupied by the most diverse writers of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, we take as reference the master Espés and the chroniclers Blancas, Andrés de Uztarroz and Dormer.
- El Galeón de Manila: 250 años de intercambios(2019) Martínez Shaw, CarlosThe Manila Galleon was a regular trade line between Mexico and the Philippines that run from the last third of the 16th century until the first years of the 19th century (1565- 1815), although the route lasted even after the return of the last ship (the Magallanes), by means of a series of minor vessels that extended the traffic between Manila and Acapulco until American independence. On the other hand, the creation of the Real Compañía de Fili - pinas enlarged these exchanges between the islands and America (especially with Peru, through El Callao, the port of Lima), including also Spain for the first time, in the same dates, so the Spanish commercial system in the Pacific did not bring to a close till 1820.
