For example, the α,α-dichloroacetamide structural subunit is commonly found in commercially available drugs such as chloramphenicol (antibiotic), florfenicol (antibiotic), quinfamide (antiamoebic), and etofamide (antiprotozoal). Recently, some novel dichloroacetamide analogs have been synthesized and investigated as anticancer and antiproliferative agents.1 In addition, several dichloroacetamides such as benoxacor, furilazole, and AD-67 (Figure 1) are popularly used as safeners2 to protect crops from herbicide toxicity.3 On the other hand, α-chloroacetamide derivatives are versatile building blocks and are frequently used in organic synthesis.
