An enantioselective desymmetrization of bisphenol derivatives provides access to highly enantioenriched chiral 1,1-diarylalkanes and triarylmethanes through an organocatalytic phosphorylation. Using a bifunctional thiourea catalyst derived from cinchonine, one enantiotopic hydroxyl group of the bisphenol is selectively phosphorylated with a phosphoryl chloride reagent. The protocol furnishes the products in good to high yields (up to 97%) and excellent enantioselectivities (up to 98% ee)
