The study aimed to identify effective methods for teaching stable word combinations through a comprehensive approach, including theoretical analysis, comparison of English and Kyrgyz idioms and paremies, and the development of a new teaching methodology. Two classification approaches — broad and narrow — were identified, along with the concept of «phraseological units» encompassing a variety of thematic categories, including those with somatic, maritime, animal-related, and colour-based imagery. Comparative analysis revealed both shared and culture-specific features, with English units reflecting maritime and industrial themes, while Kyrgyz ones are rooted in nomadic life and animal imagery. English idioms convey emotional nuance, while Kyrgyz ones transmit values and social norms. Innovative methods such as interactive tasks, digital tools, and project-based learning were proposed. The findings offer theoretical and practical value for linguistics, teaching, and translation.
