L’equació quàntica de Yang-Baxter (YBE per les seues inicials en anglès) és una equació important en la física matemàtica introduïda per Yang en 1967. Un dels seus principals problemes oberts és trobar-ne totes les solucions. En 1992, Drinfeld va definir un subtipus de solucions, les conjuntistes, i va proposar el problema de trobar-les totes. Recentment, una subclasse de les solucions conjuntistes ha sigut molt estudiada: les involutives i no degenerades (a partir d’ara, les anomenarem simplement solucions). En 2007, Rump va introduir una nova estructura algebraica, les brides a esquerra, per a estudiar aquestes solucions, i va demostrar que cada brida a esquerra té una solució de la YBE associada. A més, cada solució és isomorfa a una solució inclosa en la solució associada a una brida a esquerra en particular. Així, les brides a esquerra són una ferramenta apropiada per estudiar la YBE. En el capítol 1, estudiem l’estructura de brida a esquerra amb la intenció d’ampliar el nostre coneixement sobre elles i entendre-les millor. En 2010, Cedó, Jespers i del Río van definir els IYB-grups com els grups isomorfs al grup multiplicatiu d’una brida a esquerra. Pels resultats d’Etingof, Schedler i Soloviev, sabem que tot IYB-grup és un grup resoluble. Cedó, Jespers i del Río es preguntaren si el resultat invers també és cert, és a dir, si tot grup resoluble és un IYB-grup. Nous resultats mostraren que determinades subclasses de grups resolubles són en efecte IYB-grups, però Bachiller va trobar un contraexemple. Per un altre resultat de Cedó, Jespers i del Río, se sap que tot IYB-grup es pot factoritzar com a producte de dos IYB-grups. Açò motiva una altra pregunta: ¿sota quines condicions un grup factoritzat com a producte de dos IYB-grups, un d’ells sent normal, és un IYB-grup? En el capítol 2, estudiem els IYB-grups i mostrem un nou teorema en la direcció de l’última pregunta que millora els resultats de Cedó, Jespers i del Río, i d’Eisele. També obtenim noves famílies de IYB-grups i construïm una família concreta de IYB-grups que no podia aparèixer com a conseqüència de cap dels resultats coneguts prèviament. Els resultats originals d’aquest capítol estan publicats en «Proceedings of the American Mathematical Society». A més, Etingof, Schedler i Soloviev van introduir els grups d’estructura i de permutacions, dos grups fonamentals associats a una solució de la YBE donada. Cedó, Jespers i Okninski provaren que ambdós grups tenen una estructura natural de brida a esquerra. En el capítol 3, descrivim aquesta estructura des d’una nova perspectiva: utilitzant el graf de Cayley. En primer lloc, definim una addició sobre el grup de permutacions de manera que es convertisca en una brida a esquerra. Aquesta addició ens permet obtenir el graf de Cayley del grup additiu del grup de permutacions a partir del graf de Cayley del seu grup multiplicatiu simplement modificant-ne les etiquetes dels arcs. En segon lloc, emprem el graf de Cayley del grup additiu del grup de permutacions per construir una brida a esquerra el grup multiplicatiu de la qual és isomorf al grup d’estructura. Finalment, exposem una interpretació geomètrica i algunes aplicacions. Els resultats originals d’aquest capítol estan publicats en «Mediterranean Journal of Mathematics».

The quantum Yang-Baxter equation (YBE) is an important equation in mathematical physics introduced by Yang in 1967. One of its fundamental open problems is to find all its solutions. In 1992, Drinfeld defined a subtype of solutions, the set-theoretic ones, and proposed the question of finding them all. Recently, a subclass of set-theoretic solutions has been largely studied: the involutive non-degenerate ones (from now on, just solutions for short). In 2007, Rump defined left braces to study these solutions, and proved that every left brace has an associated solution of the YBE. Also, every solution is isomorphic to a solution included in the associated solution of a particular left brace. Hence, left braces are an appropriate tool to study the YBE. In Chapter 1, we study the structure of left brace in order to enlarge our knowledge about them and understand them better. In 2010 Cedó, Jespers, and del Río defined IYB-groups as the groups isomorphic to the multiplicative group of a left brace. From the results of Etingof, Schedler, and Soloviev, any IYB-group is a solvable group. Cedó, Jespers, and del Río asked if the converse is true, that is, if every solvable group is an IYB-group. New results showed that some subclasses of solvable groups are indeed IYB-groups, but Bachiller found a counterexample. From another result of Cedó, Jespers, and del Río, it is known that every IYB-group is a product of two IYB-groups. That motivates another question: under which conditions a group factorized as a product of two IYB-groups, one of them being normal, is an IYB-group? In Chapter 2, we study IYB-groups and show a new theorem in the direction of last question that improves the results from Cedó, Jespers, and del Río, and Eisele. We also obtain new families of IYB-groups and we construct a concrete family of IYB-groups that cannot appear as a consequence of the previous results. The original results of this chapter are published in «Proceedings of the American Mathematical Society». Also, Etingof, Schedler, and Soloviev introduced the structure group and the permutation group, two fundamental groups associated to a given solution of the YBE. Cedó, Jespers, and Okninski showed that both groups have a natural structure of left brace. In Chapter 3, we describe this structure with a new approach: using Cayley graphs. First, we define an addition over the permutation group in such a way that it becomes a left brace. That addition allows us to obtain the Cayley graph of the additive group of the permutation group from the one of its multiplicative group just by relabeling its edges. Secondly, we use the Cayley graph of the additive group of the permutation group to construct a left brace whose multiplicative group is isomorphic to the structure group. Finally, we expose a geometrical interpretation and some applications. The new results of this chapter are published in «Mediterranean Journal of Mathematics».
