L’experiment ATLAS és un dels quatre principals experiments ubicats a l’anell LHC del laboratori del CERN. ATLAS va començar el període de presa de dades del Run 2 el 2015 i va finalitzar el 2018. Molts temes del Model Estàndard (i més enllà del model estàndard) s’estan explorant mitjançant les 150 fb-1 senceres de dades recollides durant el Run 2. La possibilitat de realitzar aquests estudis és principalment gràcies a l’excel·lent funcionament del LHC durant el Run 2 i, en aquest cas particular, del detector ATLAS. Aquesta tesi presenta, per una banda, els treballs de rendiment implicats amb l'alineament del detector interior ATLAS durant el Run 2. D'altra banda, aquesta tesi presenta una anàlisi per sondar el vèrtex Wtb utilitzant esdeveniments polaritzats de quark top produïts al canal t, registrat pel detector ATLAS en un centre d'energia de massa de 13 TeV, utilitzant 80,5 fb-1 de dades de col·lisions protó-protó recollides durant el Run 2. El marc teòric actual de la física de partícules es coneix com a Model Estàndard de la física de partícules. Encara que, el Model Estàndard no pot ser la teoria final de la física de partícules elementals, ja que encara hi ha alguns fenòmens que no es poden entendre en aquest marc (per exemple, matèria fosca, energia fosca, asimetria matèria-antimateria de l’univers, etcetera...). Aquesta tesi parteix d’una breu descripció del model estàndard. Com s'ha esmentat, l'anàlisi d'aquesta tesi tracta sobre esdeveniments de quark top, per la qual cosa els conceptes bàsics de la física de quark top i el marc teòric per desenvolupar l'anàlisi en aquesta tesi també es presenten al capítol 1. Al capítol 2, es tracta la descripció de l'accelerador LHC i es pot trobar el detector ATLAS que conforma la configuració experimental d'aquesta tesi. També es tracta la reconstrucció d'objectes que es realitza a partir del senyal del detector. El treball d'aquesta tesi ha contribuït a proporcionar una bona qualitat de les dades registrades de l'experiment ATLAS, especialment durant la primera part del Run 2 (2015-2017). El rastreig del detector interior s'ha de calibrar correctament, per tal de proporcionar dades de bona qualitat als algoritmes de reconstrucció utilitzats en l’experiment ATLAS. Els fonaments bàsics de l'algorisme d'alineament així com, el treball desenvolupat per proporcionar correccions d'alineament de bona qualitat també es presenta al capítol 3. L'anàlisi realitzada per testar el vèrtex de Wtb es presenta al capítol 4. Esdeveniments de quark top produïts de manera única amb un lepton carregat. En aquesta anàlisi s'utilitzen dos jets (un d'etiquetat com a b) i un impuls transversal faltant. L’anàlisi consisteix en una mesura d’asimetries observables angulars relacionades amb la polarització del quark top. El conjunt de dades i les mostres de Monte Carlo utilitzades, així com la metodologia seguida per realitzar la mesura i l’estimació de les incerteses també s’expliquen en aquest capítol. Finalment, la conclusió de la tesi es realitza al capítol 5. Cal destacar que els resultats presentats en aquesta tesi són consistents en el Model Estàndard. Les conclusions van seguides d’un resum de tota la tesi en valencià.

ATLAS experiment is one of the main four experiments located in the LHC ring of the CERN laboratory. ATLAS started the data taking period of Run 2 in 2015 and finished in 2018. Many Standard Model topics and Beyond Standard Model searches are being explored using the whole 150 fb-1 of data collected during the Run 2. The possibility of performing such challenging studies is mainly thanks to the excellent performance of the LHC during the Run 2, and in this particular case of the ATLAS detector. This thesis presents on the one hand performance work involved with the alignment of ATLAS Inner Detector during early Run 2. On the other hand, this thesis presents an analysis to probe the Wtb vertex using polarized single top quark events produced in the t-channel, recorded by the ATLAS detector at a center of mass energy of 13 TeV, using 80.5 fb-1 of proton-proton collisions data collected during Run 2. The current theoretical framework of particle physics is known as Standard Model of particle physics. Nevertheless, despite the great success, the Standard Model cannot be the final theory of elementary particle physics, since there are still some phenomena that cannot be understood in this framework (e.g. dark matter, dark energy, matter-antimatter asymmetry of the universe,etcetera...). This thesis starts with a brief description of the Standard Model. As mentioned, the analysis of this thesis deals with top quark events, therefore the basics of top quark physics and the theoretical framework to develop the analysis in this thesis are also presented in Chapter 1. In Chapter 2, the description of the LHC accelerator and the ATLAS detector that conforms the experimental setup of this thesis, can be found. The object reconstruction that it is performed from the detector signal is also treated. The work in this thesis has contributed to provide good quality of recorded data of the ATLAS experiment, especially during early Run 2. The tracker of the Inner Detector must be correctly calibrated in order to provide good quality tracks to the reconstruction algorithms used in the ATLAS experiment. The basics of the alignment algorithm, as well as, the work developed to provide good quality alignment corrections is also presented in Chapter 3. The analysis performed to probe the Wtb vertex is presented in Chapter 4. Top quark events produced singly with one charged lepton, two jets (one of them b-tagged) and missing transverse momentum are used to probe the Wtb vertex in this analysis. The analysis consists of a measurement of angular observables asymmetries related with the top quark polarization. The dataset and the Monte Carlo samples used as well as the methodology followed to perform the measurement and the estimation of the uncertainties are explained in this chapter too. Finally, the conclusion of the thesis dissertation is realized in Chapter 5. It must be mentioned that the results obtained in this thesis are consistent with the Standard Model predictions. The conclusions are followed by a summary of the whole thesis in Valencian language.
