Giulio Camber Barni had been author of two collections of poems, the more important La Buffa (nickname of the italian Infantry). Nowadays his poems are still an exemplary document and a very efficient witness of his wartime life. Born in Trieste (1891), in that time part of austro-hungarian Empire, conscript in italian Army willingly, irredentist, he shared the terrible experience of life in trench with his soldiers subordinates, a life made of sorrows, scares, hope, boldness, risks of losing life, moments of calmness and affectionate community. |
