dc.description.abstract Drosophila early embryogenesis is an ideal system to study control of gene expression at the post transcriptional level, since at this stage there is little or no transcription. This first section gives a brief overview on early development in Drosophila. Since in this thesis, toll, a maternal mRNA implicated in the establishment of the dorso-ventral axis during early stages of embryonic development, is used as a model to uncover the molecular mechanism of cytoplasmic polyadenylation at this developmental stage. es_ES
